Who I am

My name is Shelby Bodine and I am an animal science/communications major at Colorado State University. Go Rams! My parents live in Idaho, which is where I finished up high school. We moved a lot of places during my life which landed me in 6 different cities in 3 different states and I am only 20. I have had an extremely blessed life & it seems to just slip my mind at times. This isn't going to be a long about me post, however if you would like to read a thorough autobiography than you can read it here, on my agriculture blog.

On this blog I want to be honest and open about the things that happen to us in life. I was inspired to start this endeavor thanks to Michael over at Life to Her Years who wrote the infamous and tear-jerking 50 Rules for Dads with Daughters. Get ready for waterworks when reading that, especially if you are a daddy's girl like myself.

He writes from a father's perspective about his time being a father. I can only assume that when he began this, he had other dad's in mind. When I read the 50 Rules, I was bawling like a 3 year old who just hit her head. Not in a bad way at all. But it was because I was reading those and basically checking things off one by one in regards to the way my dad raised me. It really made me appreciate one of the most important gifts that I could ever receive that is a huge piece in the puzzle that makes me up.

I am a daddy's girl, he taught me to be the son he never had. Which is good and bad at times, oops! But my mom definitely is monumental in my life. I am an only child and was hanging out with my parents almost a year after they got married. Didn't leave much time to mold their lives around each other. Anywho, anytime we had to go through a catastrophic event, I was always young and therefore, extremely susceptible to any sort of scars or harm that couldn't be avoided no matter how many buses each of my parents through themselves in front of to protect me.

All said and done, my parents are two of the people that I am the closest with on the face of the earth. If you were to ask anyone that has seen me and my parents interactions, they would be the first to tell you how close my parents and I are. I will make pages for both of them I am sure, but for the most part my mom is Sam & my dad is Tim. I have a black lab/border collie named Cash that I adopted when he was roughly 4 months old. He is an immense part of my life now and I don't mind one bit.

Well, I will be trying to update this blog as often as possible because I don't want this passion that was sparked in me by the 50 rules to fizzle out.

Bear with me, and hopefully all will work out! It always does!
